Men’s wedding bands are anything but simple these days, and we couldn’t be happier about that. Though traditional white or gold metal rings are still popular, newer offerings from trailblazers like Lashbrook come decked out in intricate patterns and made of alternative materials like meteorite, Damascus steel and even wood.

In fact, the geniuses at Lashbrook are at it again, this time giving the plain band a seriously cool makeover. Now, for the first time ever, grooms can wear a black ring made of—wait for it—solid diamond.

Are you a numbers person? Check this out.  This luxurious upgrade is a long time coming. Over 18 years were invested in developing the technology, which cost $32 million in research.  Seven separate patents have been filed for this spectacular technology. Each ring is composed of 30 carats of lab-created diamonds that are compressed under 1 million pounds of pressure at a temperature of 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit. The intense process fuses together the white diamonds so tightly that no light can enter or escape, hence their steely “black” appearance.

After seeing the finished product, it’s obvious the hard work was worth the wait. Amazingly gorgeous on its own, this one-of-a-kind, comfort fit ring is made to order, just like everything else at Krikawa.  Believe it or not, it is easy to customize. You can tinker with the width or finish, laser or etch the inside, and embellish the surface with metal inlay, stones or specially designed patterns.

But these dusky beauties are more than just a pretty face—they’re also incredibly durable. Because they’re made of diamonds, the hardest material found in a nature, the bands are scratch-resistant and will stand up beautifully to years of wear and tear. Compare this to tungsten, the go-to material for many black bands, which shatters when dropped and can’t be customized.

Perhaps the biggest selling point is the budget-friendly price. Because all of the stones are lab-created, the bands are in the $2,000 range—slightly more than a standard metal ring and less than our popular mokume rings. However, knowing you are walking around with a truly one-of-a-kind solid diamond band that was made just for you? Priceless.
